I’m going to be on the panel at PR & The Media as an ‘Independent Blogger’. It’s a one-day conference produced by Haymarket’s PR Week, the industry B2B magazine for public relations professionals. Billed as an opportunity to learn how to ‘adapt and survive in today’s flooded and changing media landscape’, there’ll be delegates from major brands like Nintendo, Barclaycard, and Cadbury as well as senior representatives from the likes of The Guardian, Sky News, The Sun, The Mirror, ITV etc.

The big question of the day is: What makes different media professionals tick?

I’ll be talking about how bloggers want to be pitched, to including trying to explain how I’d ideally like to be worked with. From painting a picture of what a day looks like for a blogger and what some of our challenges may be, to stuff that they can do to make our lives easier, how to grab our attention with relevant stories and why some pitches don’t cut it, I’ll be the representative for blogging as a ‘media channel’ and other reps from other channels will provide their own insight, and then we’ll also deal with Q&As.

I’ve been talking to PRs and bloggers from all sorts of backgrounds over the past few weeks in the run up to the event and I’ve had some really interesting and at times, somewhat controversial feedback from both sides. I’ll certainly be in the hot seat and will be finding ways to share this feedback and suggestions.

Another appearance. Some how, I managed to keep a straight face talking about ‘rude stuff’ whilst people like my dad were no doubt watching…

It’s that time again and I’ll be on the SkyNews.com Show tonight at around 7.10pm. I was supposed to be on last month as well but as I sat there under the hot lights listening to a breaking story about a high level resignation from the Ministry of Defence, I got cancelled – boooo, hiss! I shall be commenting on five popular news stories online.

I’m always a tad fascinated by the various lists that get compiled and the metrics behind them. I got an email from Invesp who created blogRank to track 20K blogs and evaluate them based on over 20 factors. They say they use an algorithm that took 8 months to develop. A bit of digging reveals that Invesp are pretty highly regarded and in my mind if blogging and SEO guru Chris Garret will contribute on their blog, that’s good enough for me to get excited about featuring in their blogRank top 25 dating sites.

Actually, overall Baggage Reclaim, my blog where I write about dating and relationships in a no holds barred, cut the fluff style that empowers women (and actually quite a few men) is tenth on the list – yay!

I appear on Sky New’s 7pm show periodically for both Baggage Reclaim and Bambino Goodies where I basically comment on five strange online stories for that day. I appeared this past Friday after a few months break where I’ve been getting my head around a new baby and ever changing toddler. You wouldn’t know it, but my hairstyle disguises a tangled mess after trying to wash and dry my hair with a yelping baby hot on my heels and ending up spending hours trying to pull out the knots… You’ll notice that the stand-in presenter makes a wise crack about ‘See you next Tuesday’ when talking about text speak…

Very belated I know, but I have been off having a baby and all that jazz! This was my third appearance on Sky News 7pm show where I talk through the top five stories online for that day.

Shame on me that I rarely listen to podcasts but I must do so more often after a recent post on BG about our guide to the essential item that is a travel potty was mentioned on Podlondon Kids, a weekly podcast that highlights what’s happening in London for kids.
